Study of many-particle systems with Monte Carlo simulations

By means of the Monte Carlo simulations, we plan to study several quantum systems with the aim of contributing to better understanding of superfluidity and Bose-Einstein condensation in confined systems. We want to precisely determine the stability limits for the formation of the mixed helium clusters, which are important as examples of nanoscopic superfluidity, and to determine the properties of helium (clusters and fluid) and molecular hydrogen in the constrained space of single-wall carbon nanohorns and in other nanostructures potentially important for applications. The next important goal is to determine energetic and structural properties of the spin-polarized hydrogen isotopes (clusters and bulk) in free space, as well as in selected lower dimensional spaces, formed by adsorption on helium or by trapping in harmonic potentials.
